FR8 208 Recap

ATLANTA MOTOR SPEEDWAY

Start: 17th | Finish: 14th | Driver Points: 28th | Owner Points: 30th

Race Recap: Ty Dillon finished 14th in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series FR8 208 at Atlanta Motor Speedway, despite facing adversity.

After qualifying 17th, early race left rear contact sent Dillon down pit road for an unscheduled stop. Emerging two laps down, a pair of free passes under the fourth and fifth caution flags allowed the No. 25 Rackley Roofing / W.A.R. Shocks Chevrolet to rejoin the lead lap.

Ironically, the yellow flag that put Dillon back on the lead lap resulted from flying debris that landed on the roof of the No. 25 truck. Running on the same lap as the leaders, even with compromised aerodynamics from the roof damage, Dillon recovered to a 14th-place finish.

“Put that on a list of firsts: someone’s roof flying off and landing square on my windshield,” Dillon said after the race. “Thank God for the safety of these trucks; that could have been really bad. Shoutout to NASCAR and Rackley W.A.R. for building safe trucks.

“Also, that being said, our team battled back from two laps down and got hit by a roof to get a top 15. Our team showed a lot of resilience today.”
