Buckle Up South Carolina 200 Recap

Darlington Raceway

Start: 15th | Finish: 9th | Driver Points: 19th | Owner Points: 23rd

Race Recap: Ty Dillon scored his first top 10 of the season in Friday night’s NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Buckle Up South Carolina 200 at Darlington Raceway. The ninth-place finish marks the best result for Rackley W.A.R. since Talladega Superspeedway last season.

After running 11th-quickest in practice, Dillon qualified 15th for the race that ended up rain-delayed for more than two hours. But when the field finally went green, the No. 25 Rackley Roofing / W.A.R. Shocks Chevrolet was “a little tight” on the initial start that was quickly halted by a single-truck incident.

For much of stage one, the truck remained tight, but Dillon didn’t want to do “anything crazy” to loosen it up. An air pressure and wedge adjustment led to another swing at the handling at the end of stage two.

On the restart for stage three, with just 50 laps remaining, a multi-truck incident unfolded in front of Dillon, but under the guidance of spotter Freddie Kraft, Dillon was able to pilot the No. 25 around the carnage and straight up to sixth in the running order.

Debris on the grille inside 20 laps remaining caused the water temperature to shoot up, but a well-time caution for another incident allowed Dillon to bring the truck to the attention of the team one last time.

A chaotic restart for an overtime finish saw Dillon shuffled back to ninth where he remained until the checkered flag flew.

Team Notes: Rackley W.A.R. will field two trucks this weekend with Dawson Sutton making his Truck Series debut at North Wilkesboro Speedway behind the wheel of the No. 26 Chevrolet.

Next Up: Wright Brand 250 at North Wilkesboro Speedway on Saturday, May 18th; 1:30 p.m. ET on FOX Sports 1 | MRN | SiriusXM NASCAR Channel 90
