Statesville, NC (April 16, 2025) – In an announcement from its headquarters today, Rackley W.A.R. announced that 13-year-old Vito Cancilla has signed with the team’s Racing Development Program and will run under the late model alliance umbrella of Fetcho Motorsports based in Nashville, Tenn.

Cancilla, from Martinez, California, will make his debut with Rackley W.A.R. and Fetcho Motorsports at North Wilkesboro Speedway for the running of the CARS Tour East event on May 15.

Vito is a fourth-generation racer with family roots in racing back to the early 1950’s. He started racing quarter midgets in Livermore, CA on his 5th birthday.

He quickly found his love for the sport and flew through the ranks of quarter midgets. Vito started Dirt Micro Sprints at eight, where he earned his nickname “The Torpedo”. At the age of 10, he moved into Jr. Late Models competing in the 51FIFTY/MAVTV Madera Speedway Series and at All-American Speedway (Roseville, CA), and the Las Vegas Bullring.

Additionally, his driving career includes highlights such as the 2021 Junior Sprint Rookie of the Year after several wins at Dixon Speedway, Delta Speedway (Stockton CA), Deming (WA) Speedway, and the Tulsa Shootout.

In 2022 he was the youngest stock car winner in All-American Speedway history at the age of 10.

In 2023, at just 11-years-old, Vito set track records at the Las Vegas Bullring, All-American Speedway, and Madera Speedway. He won 7 of 9 Jr. Late Model events at Madera, was undefeated at All-American Speedway and won season championships at both Madera and All-American.

In 2024 Vito became one of the youngest drivers in the country to race Pro Late Models full- time. He kicked off the season winning at Madera Speedway, breaking NASCAR Cup Series driver Cole Custer’s record as the youngest Pro Late Model winner. Cole Custer set the record at 14 years of age; Vito set that record at age 12.

He won his first-ever Super Late Model race at the famous Shasta (Anderson, CA) 125 and won his first ever half-mile race at Kevin Harvick’s Kern Raceway. He capped off the 2024 season by qualifying his way into the Pro Late Model Snowflake 100 at 5 Flags Speedway’s Snowball Derby event.

In 2025 Vito will compete in the CARS Tour West Series in both Limited and Pro Late Model, along with some Super Late Model appearances. He will also compete in select CARS Tour East events and his area home track races. He is also hoping to make approximately 360 dirt sprint car events while building on his goal of becoming the youngest NASCAR ARCA Menards Series Champion, and long-term goal of racing in the top ranks of NASCAR.

Cancilla will also be running select Outlaw non-wing Micro events on California dirt tracks while building on his goal.

Rackley W.A.R. president, Willie Allen expressed the team’s excitement to have Cancilla as the newest driver on the team’s racing development program roster.

“You look at Vito’s young career up to this point and it’s quite remarkable. He’s proven himself amazingly and what he’s accomplished is nothing short of incredible for a driver his age. We are not only excited to have him with our team, but it’s truly an honor to have him take notice and want to join our organization. He will make his first start at North Wilkesboro as we iron out other races that he will run with us and our late model alliance with Scott Fetcho and Fetcho Motorsports going forward.”

Fetcho said, “We are looking forward to adding Vito to the Fetcho Motorsports driver roster as a part of our newly established alliance with Rackley W.A.R.

“His accomplishments at only 13-years-old are impressive and showcase a level of talent and focus well beyond his years. We’re excited to support his development and cannot wait to see what the future holds as he continues to rise through the ranks.”

Cancilla says he’s gracious and thankful for the success he’s had and for the future.

“I couldn’t have accomplished what I have without great support from my sponsors [Industrial Railways, Advanced IPM, Impact Transportation, Sierra Speed, among others] and my home team Nascimento Motorsports with chiefs such as Roger Bracken, Tye Joiner, and Mike Nascimento.

“My parents and sisters give up so much as well. Every day I thank God for giving me all the people that believe and support me to do what I love. I’m blessed, thankful and eager to see what He has in store for me next. Can’t wait to work with Rackley W.A.R. and Fetcho Motorsports back east. I’m super excited.”

Each team will have additional schedule announcements as they develop.
