NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Championship Recap

Phoenix Raceway

Start: 25th | Finish: 20th | Driver Points: 33rd | Owner Points: 22nd

Dawson Sutton finished the 2024 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series season at Phoenix Raceway with a 20th-place finish in his first start at the one-mile oval.

After qualifying 25th, Sutton reported a tight-handling truck throughout stage one but still gained a couple of positions to 22nd. Crew chief Shane Wilson brought his driver down pit road for four tires, fuel and a trackbar adjustment.

By the end of stage two, Sutton reported the No. 25 Rackley Roofing / W.A.R. Shocks Chevrolet continued to get tighter throughout the run. In addition to four tires and fuel, the pit crew made another trackbar adjustment and an air pressure change.

Almost immediately after the field took the green flag for stage three, a spinning competitor collected multiple trucks, but Sutton drove evasively and avoided contact. Following a short red flag for fluid, the field was slowed by two more yellow flags, and Sutton, who’d been one lap down since stage one, received the free pass under the last caution. Over the final 30 laps, he worked his way forward to a 20th-place finish.
