Love’s RV Stop 225 Recap

Talladega superspeedway

Start: 30th | Finish: 24th | Driver Points: 35th | Owner Points: 22nd

Dawson Sutton finished 24th in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Love’s RV 225 at Talladega Superspeedway.

After starting 30th, Sutton remained toward the rear of the field for the entirety of stage one. A pit stop for four tires and a trackbar adjustment, the driver of the No. 25 Rackley Roofing / W.A.R. Shocks Chevrolet managed to avoid a multi-truck incident with two laps remaining in stage two.

Another pit stop under the stage break saw crew chief Shane Wilson make the call to bring Sutton down pit road for an extra pit stop to top off the fuel in preparation for the remainder of the race.

During stage three, Sutton moved through the field to 16th by lap 50 and ultimately took the lead on lap 57 during a round of green flag pit stops. A late-race yellow with less than 20 laps remaining saw Sutton get caught up in a multi-truck accident.

Despite the damage, the team made repairs to allow the No. 25 to get back on track. Following an extended unscheduled pit stop a few laps later to replace a flat right front tire, Sutton avoided a last-lap melee at the start/finish line and ended up 24th, four laps down.
