Race Recap: Track position plagued Ty Dillon and the No. 25 Rackley Roofing / W.A.R. Shock Chevrolet throughout Friday night’s Long John Silver’s 200 at Martinsville Speedway. Despite running top-10 speeds for much of the race, a few mistakes on pit road cost him as he walked away with a 23rd-place finish.
After starting 18th, Dillon climbed to 14th by the end of stage one and even considered staying out if the rest of the leaders pitted, claiming “I think I can lead.” Crew chief Shane Wilson called for a slight air pressure adjustment to help with rear-end handling. A pit road speeding penalty mired Dillon deep in the field for stage two, though he did recover to 18th by the end of lap 100.
Under the stage ending yellow, Dillon reported the truck was the best it had been on the prior run. Wilson called for another small air pressure and a wedge adjustment to loosen up the truck ever so slightly. A safety violation for too many crew members over the wall once again moved Dillon to the rear of the field.
Restarting 30th, Dillon lost all of his track position and remained outside the top 20 for much of the first half of stage three. A caution-filled third stage allowed Dillon to slowly climb his way through the field and inside the top 20 before contact with another competitor inside 40 laps remaining left the No. 25 with slight left rear damage.
A restart violation inside 25 laps remaining saw Dillon get black flagged, but the yellow flew shortly after the penalty was issued, allowing him to drop to the tail end of the field instead of serving a pass-through penalty.
Crew chief Shane Wilson made the call to take tires and try to gain as many positions as possible with less than 10 laps remaining. Restarting 26th with just three laps remaining, Dillon gained a few positions and ended up 23rd by the time the checkered flag flew.

Dillon’s Xfinity Series stats speak loudly with 34 top-five and 92 top-10 finishes, alongside his Truck Series results totaling three wins, 20 top-five and 36 top-10 finishes.
Away from the track, Dillon enjoys spending time outdoors, golfing, analyzing sports, or spending time with family. He is an avid sports fan, rooting for the Carolina Panthers and Atlanta Braves. Dillon and his wife, Haley, were married in December 2014 and reside in Mooresville, N.C. with their daughter, Oakley, and son, Kapton.
